Connecting With Your Higher Self

Writer: Dane BoyleDane Boyle

When you want to listen to a particular radio station, you tune your radio to that station, tuning in to a particular frequency. The same applies when you want to watch a particular show on TV. The frequency you tune into determines what you hear and what you see.

Our brains operate in much the same way, except that we have only two stations we can tune into—the ego station and the higher-self station.

The Ego Station vs. The Higher-Self Station

The ego station originates in the programmed mind, which contains all our limiting beliefs that create our fears. It represents our wounded self, our false self—the protected self we learned to be while growing up, trying to control how we receive love, avoid pain, and feel safe. The ego operates on old information, often outdated and untrue. It is a closed circuit, resistant to new insights and unwilling to accept the truth.

The higher-self station, however, taps into the unlimited wisdom of the universe—insights that transcend our programmed mind. It connects to the Source of truth, always available to guide us toward our highest good.

How Do You Tune into Your Higher Self?

Each of us has a "dial" that determines which station we tune into. This dial is our INTENT.

We have only two intents to choose from:

  1. The intent to get love and avoid pain through some form of control.

  2. The intent to learn about loving ourselves and others.

The intent to control—whether it’s controlling how we receive love or how we avoid pain—keeps us locked in the low-frequency ego station. It fuels thoughts of fear, anxiety, guilt, shame, stress, anger, jealousy, resentment, and victimhood. This mindset keeps us stuck in negative cycles, reacting to life rather than truly living it.

On the other hand, at any moment, we can choose to shift our intent toward learning. We can decide to step out of our ego mind and into a place of growth, understanding, and truth. The moment we make this choice, our frequency rises, allowing us to access the higher-self station. This transformation is akin to moving beyond the limitations of our personal computer and tapping into a vast, infinite network—one that is always accurate, always aligned with truth.

Breaking Free from the Addiction to Control

The biggest obstacle preventing us from accessing our higher self is our addiction to control. The ego convinces us that we can—and should—control everything: our feelings, other people’s reactions, and life’s outcomes. But in reality, we can control very little. Suppressing our emotions through distractions or addictions may offer temporary relief, but it ultimately leads to deeper dissatisfaction and pain.

Real joy and fulfillment come when we relinquish this need for control and instead choose to learn—about love, about our true selves, and about the truth of existence. When we attune ourselves to the higher self station, we gain access to profound wisdom, clarity, and peace.

What station are you tuned into right now? Take a moment to reflect on your intent. Are you seeking to control, or are you open to learning?

The choice is always yours.

Start today—choose to shift your intent toward love and wisdom, and experience the transformation that comes from connecting with your higher self.
