🎙 As heard on Turn Positivity Into Possibility 🎙

We’ve all had days where we feel like we’re drowning in a sea of to-dos. The calendar is packed, the inbox is overflowing, and somehow, despite being busy all day, it feels like nothing truly important got done. Sound familiar?
That’s because we often fill our time with sand and pebbles—small, urgent tasks that seem important in the moment but don’t actually move the needle on what matters most. Instead, we need to focus on the Big Rocks.
What Are Your Big Rocks?
The Big Rocks concept comes from a powerful analogy about time management. Imagine a jar:
The big rocks represent the things that matter most—your health, relationships, personal growth, and meaningful work.
The pebbles are things that feel necessary but aren’t life-changing—emails, meetings, errands.
The sand is the tiny, insignificant stuff that fills up your time if you’re not careful—mindless scrolling, distractions, and busywork.
If you fill your jar with sand and pebbles first, there’s no room for the big rocks. But if you put the big rocks in first, the pebbles and sand can fit around them.
How to Prioritize Your Big Rocks
🚀 Step 1: Define Your Big RocksAsk yourself: What are the 3-5 things that truly matter in my life?
These could be:
✅ Your health and fitness
✅ Your family and relationships
✅ Your mission and purpose
✅ Your personal growth
✅ Your faith or spirituality
Step 2: Put Them on Your Calendar First If something is a priority, it deserves space on your calendar before everything else. Block off time for workouts, deep work, family dinners, or personal reflection—before you schedule the other noise.
Step 3: Eliminate the Sand Not everything deserves your attention. Cut out time-wasters and distractions that don’t serve your goals. Say no more often. Protect your time like the valuable resource it is.
Step 4: Stay Intentional and Adjust When Needed Life happens. Priorities shift. The key is to continually assess: Am I focusing on my big rocks, or am I getting lost in the sand?
Your Challenge: Identify & Commit to Your Big Rocks
This week, I challenge you to write down your top 3-5 big rocks. Then, schedule them. Make them non-negotiable.
Because when you prioritize what truly matters, you create a life that truly matters.
