Who should attend this program? 

This program is well suited for anyone who wants to increase the amount of physical activity in their life. If you would benefit from a more active lifestyle, then you should consider this program.

What will I learn in this program?

You will learn lifestyle management skills that foster realistically paced, lasting behavior change. These skills include how to successfully address challenges to physical activity, healthy eating, and effectively setting realistic goals that take into account your lifestyle, personal preferences, and readiness to change, and how to develop social support systems.

Is this an exercise program?

No, this program is focused on helping you identify ways to incorporate physical activity into your life and how to sustain this activity level.

What are the benefits of participating in this program?

You will improve your health and the quality of your life. These improvements can include increased energy, and sense of wellbeing, lowered blood pressure and cholesterol, and improved body weight.

How long is the program?

The program is split into 5 – 4 week educational sessions followed by 6 – monlthy support group sessions.

What happens in each class session?

Each class is one hour in duration and focuses on 1-2 topics related to lifestyle management.

Is there homework?

Each class includes review of the homework and group discussion. In addition, some weeks also include a group activity designed to provide practical experience in the week’s lesson. Each program participant receives a course book that includes detailed information on the topics discussed. Reading and assignments between classes provide reinforcement and practice for the skills taught each week.
